Leica Tour

A photograph taken in Hong Kong finds its way to the Palais de Tokyo.

Statement

Taken in Hong Kong in 2025, this photograph came from a play of lines and shadows spotted on a basketball court. The ground markings and the shadow of the hoop bring out a face — almost a smiley — formed by chance in the setting.

In June 2025, it was selected by Leica Camera France for Perspectives singulières, the collaborative exhibition opening the Leica Tour. It was shown at the Palais de Tokyo among more than 400 prints, for Leica’s centenary. After this first Parisian stage, the Leica Tour travelled on to Bordeaux and Lyon, before ending in Marseille in April 2026.

This was my first experience of exhibiting. It marked an essential shift in my practice: a photograph made without thinking about what it would become was leaving my personal space for the first time, meeting an audience and beginning to live independently of me. That moment was a real trigger, making concrete the idea that an image could have a life of its own, long after the moment it was taken.
